Working in Partnership with Parents
It is incredibly important that we work in partnership in order to provide your child with a continuity of care and boundaries. Without this partnership children could become very confused about what is expected, and this will in turn impact on their well-being and behaviour.
You are your child’s first educator and we will work closely with you to carry out your wishes for your child wherever we can. In order for this to happen we will need to form a partnership and a clear way of communicating. We understand how complicated it is being a working parent, and how difficult drop off and pick up times are in addition to a working day. For this reason, we are happy to create unique communication systems that work for you and your child. We can chat in lots of different ways. We could:
- Use a daily diary for communications (this has proved to be effective for milestones, routine and progress communications)
- Chat at the end of the day
- Send and receive emails
- Talk on the telephone
- Make an appointment after pick up time
- Text or message (this has proved to be the most effective method for ‘quick response’ and ‘dialogue’ style communications.)
This way we will be able to share what your child has eaten, naps, activities, milestones achieved and so on in the most appropriate and effective way.
It is also very helpful if you could let us know if your child has had an unsettled time, disturbed sleep, is not feeling well or any other piece of information that may help us to meet their needs or adapt our provision. Sometimes just a straightforward simple text will be enough to ensure that your child has a better day. We are always happy to talk to you about your child either in person or by way of one of the other methods we have listed.

To ensure effective communication we ask that you inform us if there are any changes to your availability, contact details, including work and mobile numbers and those of your emergency contacts.
As your child grows and their needs change it will be so important for us to work together so that your wishes can be incorporated into your child’s routines. Such as weaning, potty training, managing behaviour or starting school.

If you have any concerns or worries about the care we provide for your child, please let us know at the earliest opportunity so that issues or misunderstandings can be ironed out before they become problems.
We very much look forward to working in partnership with you.
